I know that many of you are out there struggling and wondering how you’ll be able to afford Christmas gifts this year. This is just a very quick service announcements that if you’re looking for a job or need a weekend gig to supplement your income, there are plenty of company hiring right now for the Christmas season and they want you!
Last year I was lucky to get a weekend job at Macy’s and chances are that you will be too if you act right now and beat the last-minute rush to find a job. Below are some companies that I know for a fact are hiring right now:
- Macy’s macyjobs.com
- J.C. Penney jcpenney.net
- Target target.com
- Saks careeratsaks.com/jobsearch.aspx
- Lord & Taylor lordandtaylor.com/careers
- Toys ‘R Us ruscareers.com
- UPS jobs-ups.com
- FedEx fedex.hodesiq.com/careers/job_search.aspx?User_ID=
I added UPS at the bottom there because I think that it’s perfect for anyone who would prefer to not work with the public. After a long day at work, the last thing that many of us want to do is deal with customers. UPS is slated to hire part-time Package Handlers, Delivery Drivers and Helpers! They also have seasonal full-time jobs during the day as Driver Helpers from Thanksgiving all the way through Christmas!
The best thing about seasonal and part-time jobs is that they might even convert to permanent if you impress your supervisors and there is room for permanent help.
If you think that no sales or retail experience will put you out of the running, don’t worry. These companies tend to need all kinds of help from customer service and tech support to overnight stocking positions. If you can breathe and lift 25 to 50 pounds you’re a show in. Plus, having a nice personality helps too.
So what do you do it you’re looking for a seasonal job? Treat the interview as you would a real job.
- Be well dressed and put together.
- Show up on time!
- Be enthusiastic and friendly.
- Be truthful about your availability
These might not be the only companies hiring. I did a really quick search on Career Builder and came up with lots of seasonal job openings. Be sure to check in with past employers to see if they need help too. And make sure you beat the rush. Start applying today!
Hey, do you know of another company hiring for Christmas 2011 seasonal workers? Let me know and I’ll add it to this list!
