I’ve been slowly but steadily chipping away at the debt for the past 9 months with only a few bumps into the road until this one. My BF decided to get a dog.
To know me is to know that I am not particularly the most patient person on earth, but I recognize that character flaw and wrap myself in its warmth. Translation: I’m okay with that. Pets need lots of love and patience so I’ve pretty much fought tooth and nail against having a pet for the past few years. This year he vetoed me and got himself a dog for his birthday. I came home to a reddish-brown ball of fur and two hazel eyes wrapped up in a four legged package of poo and teeth.
While I know that I’m not patient, I’m also not mean. I’ve chipped in on or paid for the cost of food, toys, the crate, bedding, treats, obedience school, vaccinations, the lease, medications, testing and God knows what else. This stuff adds up very, very quickly. We’ve had her for about a month now, and I have to say that I wouldn’t change a thing.
I’ve fallen deeply in love with the puppy and she loves her mama. Okay, she loves her dad too, but that’s beside the point. 🙂 She also loves mama’s shoes, handbag, the remote control, the bed frame and a certain spot in the house that seems to affect her ability to hold her sphincters. But I really wouldn’t change a thing! All you have to do is take a look at her laying in bed next to her proud mama to see why…she’s such an affectionate cutie if I do say so myself.
So will this affect the speed at which I pay some things off? Sure! Do I mind? Nope. Some things are just worth a little debt…Not too much though!
