This really sounds like a win-win situation. Not only can students make money with this new skill, but they can also use it in their own personal lives to save some money and reduce the stress of taxes. The part about helping low income people makes it even better. Very cool.

I did this when I was a freshman in college! Great experience. A TON of training is involved (I think it was 8 hours through the IRS directly, plus other classes), but it was all worth it.

I wasn’t even an accounting major while in college, I did it because it looks GREAT on your resume.

Sounds like a great program. Should I trust a freshman to do my tax?

That is an awesome program! I’ve always loved doing my taxes and have helped others. I would have done that if I had the opportunity.

I think this is a great benefit for high school students to learn a little bit about taxes before they have to start paying for them.
