The Procrastinator’s Guide To Filing Income Taxes Infographic

It’s no secret that I file my taxes late every year. This year is no difference. Based on the lines at my local post office on tax day, I’m reasonably sure that millions of other people wait until the last possible day to file their taxes as well.

If you’re one of the holdouts, like me, H&R Block has published this handy guide for all of us procrastinators. I might just wait until May or June to file mine…just in time for vacation season. 🙂

  • Is it dictated that an accountant must do taxes in the states? Are you from the US? We have book keepers here that can do taxes. Accountants typically have little tax filing knowledge, to my understanding, in Canada anyway. Maybe I’m wrong. Anyway, book keepers are much cheaper.

I usually do it myself because my tax refunds aren’t much and I hate parting with that money!

    • No, you don’t have to have an accountant do your taxes in the U.S. Most people choose to do so because the tax code is so complicated here. It’s incredibly confusing for many people. Me? Not so much!

  • I continue to file taxes on my own however I do think I may need to use a CPA next year. I am being switched a 1099 employee and I’m not sure what all I can write off.

  • I still do my taxes on my own. However, this year I used an online program. Next year, my plan is to file earlier and have an accountant review them! (Oh, I still have to file my state taxes – I’m running late!)

  • After many years of doing it myself, this year I went to H&R Block. One of the key reasons I did this was to get an appointment and get it done early. I am so glad that I wasn’t doing it last minute, like in past years.
